biography
Born in 1957 in Southern California, Anita enjoyed two cultural influences while growing up. After completion of her higher education in art and design, she continued her life’s journey in Southern Germany for almost 20 years. She embarked on her career of graphic design at first, then later to excel in her design career, internationally.
Even though she had painted all her life, and did not take up a professional career in art until later, she had always held the basement or the attic free to do her art. She hosted a few art exhibitions in a restaurant in Augsburg, Germany and sold some commissioned artwork to her neighbors, friends and clients. Her extensive travel experiences, design philosophies, and Zen-earthiness are all displayed as influences in her work.
“Despite all these influences, the painting will form on the blank canvas taking on a life of its own, melting all journeys together in one moment in time to be expressed that day. Concepts of nature and visual impressions taken in points of my life get transferred to the canvas.
The end result will be a balanced ‘conceptual impression’ thereof, the working in of the color and texture of the paint, and at times having specs shimmer through in gold or silver leaf application. My work is mostly non-representational, yet many observers will emulate their vision into the painting, creating their own story. This is where my work ends, and the observer’s personalization begins.”
